Skype update
The new Skype for Linux is available here:

It works fine. The main problems we deal with are those of mic and pcm volumes muted in your sound controller or that your webcam is being used by some other application. 64 bit users please ensure you have the 32 bit libraries installed.
Please note that although Skype is free, it is NOT open source software. Only Skype engineers have access to the program. Not us! So let's all push Skype for an open source version. As a viable alternative to free video conferencing, take a look at either microsoft messenger (it's controlled by Kopete in Linux) or Ekiga which is a microsoft netmeeting clone.

Acer Wireless Update
All Acer Extensa laptops now incorporate the Atheros wifi chipset. For the old Broadcom users there is a new module too. OpenSUSE 11.2 recommended.

openSUSE launches 11.2, the real alternative

Yahoo! closes Geocities
Yahoo has decided to shut down GeoCities today, rendering thousands of users’ home-pages unserviceable. Yahoo is probably doing this in order to follow its demise at the hands of its competitors. However, this basically leaves the normal guy, with his homepage, in the dark. Literally. After today all GeoCities’ homepages will no longer work, and the users’ content deleted irrevocably.
