To post your question or request more information please contact us Q. I've always used a version of Windows, how easy will it be for me to adapt to Linux?
A. Most users are able to use a Linux operating system immediately. If you are nervous and would like in-house training this can be provided by us at all levels.
Q. A bloke in the bar said you can still get a virus using Linux. Is he right?
A. When used correctly it is NOT possible to get a virus. You will receive all the information you need to ensure your computer is 100% safe from virus attack.Q. What is your green lizard logo?
A. It is the logo of the collection (distribution) of Linux programs which we install and we use it with their permission. Based in Nuremberg, Germany we have found it to be the most advanced and professional not only for completeness but for confidence and competence. If they say they'll do it, they do it.Q. What will my web site look like?
A. Whatever you like. There are some recently used 'what it looks like' shots HERE. Please take a look.Q. What about my existing computer, printer, scanner etc. Will it work with Linux?
A. Usually it will. If you want to be 100% certain then have a look at the hardware compatibility list (HCL) HERE Bear in mind that Microsoft will do all in their power to make sure that new hardware will only work with their own system. We know otherwise however. Q. Will my existing anti-virus work with Linux?
A. No. Because of the way in which Linux works you will not require an anti-virus.Q. I don't know much about computers (I'm 76 years old) but my grandson set up gmail for me. Will I still be able to use my gmail?
A. Yes you will. All existing email accounts will work perfectly with Linux.Q. I have lots of friends on Facebook. Does Facebook work with Linux?
A. Yes it does.Q. I want to try Linux but my wife is set in her ways and refuses to change from Windows. What can I do?
A. It's possible to install Linux but have the choice of using Windows. We do not recommend this as it would be better to have two computers, one with Linux and the other with Windows. However you should be aware that whilst using Windows you are not protected by the advanced security features of Linux. In this instance, you would need to have your antivirus software installed if you wish to run any Windows operating system.Q. I changed my PC from Windows XP to Windows Vista and it was a disaster. None of my hardware worked with the new system and I had to buy a new printer and scanner. Will this happen again if I change to Linux.
A. No. Linux will be configured to accommodate existing hardware.Q. I've always wanted to have a go at photo and image manipulation but the software packages are so expensive. Are software packages any cheaper for Linux?
A. Better than that … they're free and easy to use.Q. I'm just a basic home user but my children have their own laptops. What advantage is there to converting to Linux?
A. There are many advantages to using Linux. One, of course, is the protection Linux gives against virus attack particularly where children and teenagers are involved. A huge percentage of viruses are passed through emails, attachments and downloads, all these activities are very popular with the younger generation. By following our advice, your computers cannot be affected by viruses.
If you are worried about Internet safety with regards to your children it's possible to create a small network to link all the family computers. This means that you could monitor and/or control computer activities in other rooms. You would be able to choose which sites are available, or otherwise, in Internet for example you could block all chat sites if this is what you wish to do.Q. I run my business from a small office with 6 independent computers, some running under Windows XP and others under Windows Vista. Some of the computers run much slower than others. What benefits would there be in changing to Linux?
A. We could network all your computers. Internet and email access could be controlled by a central computer That's what many companies do these days.Q. You have refused to help me install Linux. Why?
A. Please understand that this is not just about installing Linux. It is about making backup copies of files which are important to you on a day to day basis. We cannot know what information is important to you personally. Millions of $ are lost each day by users not backing up important data. It is usually as easy as copying your files to a USB drive.Q. My business relies heavily on the Internet and I currently have 17 computers in operation. I'd like to change the operating system to Linux but I'm worried about downtime during the installation. Would it be necessary to stop all work whilst this is being done?
A. There are several options. We could install the operating system to 2 machines at a time. They would not be available for use during the installation period. Alternatively the work could be done outside normal working hours. Our aim is to provide a service with as little disruption as possible.
